Eliza and Jerry

Ok so I’m just going to come right out and call it what it was, because rarely does one word sum up a wedding so perfectly. One word to illuminate the couple, the feeling, the sounds, the food, the frenzy.

One word: Juicy.

You heard me, juicy.

Eliza and Jerry are without a doubt THE juiciest couple I have had the absolute delight to marry. They are simply oozing with passion, with flavour, with love. From the second I met them, when we sat laughing our heads off at a cozy Thornbury bar, to the first night I spent recording their story over a  steaming bowl of DELICIOUS laksa that Jerry whipped up casually while we chatted. This was one couple I wanted to spend more and more time with, and not just for the food, although I’d be lying if I said that wasn’t an incentive.

I loved the way they moved around each other in the kitchen, like some sort of charming dance. I loved how they interrupted each other to fill in the gaps in the story. I love how they teased each other relentlessly, all the while their eyes were twinkling. I loved, most of all, that they both just seemed so completely, so utterly, themselves.

And then came the day. There are several words I could use to describe the weather that day. I could say windy. I could say unpredictable. I could say the weather wasn’t exactly what they’d hoped for. But instead I shall describe the weather as it actually felt.

Arctic, gusty, the kind of weather you wish for when you are in your bed, wrapt in a shawl your nan crocheted and sipping on a hot cuppa earl grey. We’re talking freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezing….

And yet….

And yet somehow, these two lit up the space like a spectacular firework display and I almost (almost) forgot it was cold completely. How is this possible, what sort of peculiar magic was bestowed upon us, so that we suddenly felt warmed?

Potentially it started when Jerry literally rocked down the isle to ‘You’re the one that I want’ from Grease. Eliza, totally babe’n at the front of the alter, welcomed her with fabulously groovy hand gestures. There are no words for this kind of awesomeness. No words.

It may have also had something to do with the tremendously funny tale of how these two met, too much wine and several sassy one liners that Beyonce herself would applaud.

Perhaps it was simply a case of watching two gorgeous people, who clearly love the hell out of each other, take such joy in sharing that love with their community.

I can’t say I’ll ever understand how these two lorded their love over the weather but I do know one thing, these two spunky soul mates are a force to be reckoned with and I can’t wait to watch their delicious life unfold.
